Interview with Tony

Tim - when I met with COO Alfred Lin, he talked a lot about the work they are doing on actuallly studying the science of happiness and training folks about it as they shift the culture from a service delivery framework to "delivering happiness" - very interesting approach, they take culture as seriously as many companies take profit.

what are you doing to ensure the future success of zappos isn't dependent upon you? (i'm not saying anything is going to happen to you, but as we've seen with steve jobs, so much of internal cultural strength and external company/brand valuation of apple comes from him)

Brand

In order to build a powerful brand, you've invested in great employees and consumer-friendly policies. Many businesses feel like they have to scrimp in these areas to turn a profit. What would you say to the company that says "that kind of experience would be nice to deliver, but our margins are slim as they are".

Social media

In terms of your social media tactics/strategies, what “secret” do you wish someone had told you before you started? OR What tools, applications, services, etc. are you using that you find work well for your brand and why?

Customer Service

Zappos is known for stellar customer service. What can bricks and mortar retailers learn from Zappos to achieve outstanding levels of customer service and still deliver the profits Wall Street requires?
